Alibaba, the Chinese tech giant, is set to launch Tongyi Qianwen, an AI chatbot similar to ChatGPT. With plans to integrate the chatbot across its businesses, Alibaba aims to capitalize on the growing interest in generative AI technology. Initially, Tongyi Qianwen will be added to DingTalk, Alibaba's workplace messaging app, and later to Tmall Genie, akin to Amazon's Alexa. Other tech companies like Microsoft, Google, and Baidu have also developed their own AI chatbots in response to the success of ChatGPT by OpenAI.

1/ Elon Musk starts a new AI company

A new report from the WSJ revealed that Elon Musk has formed an AI company called X.AI Corp., which will directly compete with the leading player OpenAl.

Besides that, it has been revealed that Musk incorporated the company in Nevada last month and authorized the 100 million shares privately. He has also reportedly been assembling a team of AI researchers and engineers, including top talents from other leading AI companies.

I have told you recently that Musk purchased 10,000 GPUs for an undisclosed AI project, and previously he openly called for a six-month pause in AI development. Now, it is becoming more clear that he wanted to secretly develop AI and start an independent AI company.

2/ Meta released AI tool that gives life to drawings

I am loving the moves!

Meta has done it again! They have open-sourced an AI-powered animation tool that can bring children's drawings to life, along with the unique dataset of 180K drawings that is used to train it.

The tool is called Animated Drawings, and it has the capability to recognize the figure, separate it from the background, add joint controls, and make it move in various ways.

Parents can upload their children's drawings to the tool's website and watch them transform into moving characters that dance, skip, and jump. They can also download videos of the animated drawings to share with others.
